Press Release No : 593 Date: 27.08.2026 PRESS RELEASE Tamil Nadu Awarded Winner State in Large States Category Under PMFME Scheme The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented on a 60:40 fund-sharing basis between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu to formalize micro food processing units and encourage agricultural value addition. At the National PMFME Conclave held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 24-25 August 2026, Tamil Nadu was adjudged a Winner State in the Large States category. Hon'ble Minister for MSME Thiru P. Mathan Raja received the award from Union Food Processing Industries Minister Thiru Chirag Paswan, in the presence of MSME Additional Chief Secretary Thiru Pradeep Yadav, IAS, and Industries Commissioner Dr. P. Umanath, IAS. Achievements: • Disbursed Rs. 47 crore subsidy to 1,618 enterprises in current fiscal. • Disbursed Rs. 38.16 crore seed capital assistance (Rs. 40,000 each) to 9,569 SHG women. • Cumulatively sanctioned 19,800 units (~10% of pan-India target) with a benchmark 92% sanction-to-disbursement rate. • Approved highest number of 6 proposals under Branding and Marketing.
